What are we looking for?

Our blogposts tend to be between 300-1000 words in length. We understand that Christians have distinct and sometimes competing beliefs—for example, one might believe in practicing infant baptism while another believes in adult baptism. We don’t shy away from speaking about things that make us distinct, but we do it with respect and a spirit of ecumenism. Those in a counseling practice have distinctions, too—maybe some prefer non-directive counseling while others actively challenge their clients. Again, we don’t shy away from things that might cause another person to disagree, but we do try to write with respect.
If there is a rule, it’s this: make it matter. Tell us why this topic is important, tell us concretely where it is seen in people’s lives, and help us by shedding some light on it or by giving some practical suggestions. Do single mothers experience stress? What are the biggest barriers to forgiveness? What if holding true to your faith feels harder on the other side of college? Can a Christian be depressed?

First, email us your idea

When you email us include a summary describing your idea and the date you can have it to us. We do our best to get back to you in a timely manner. If, however, you have not heard from us within two weeks, please assume we will not be able to use your idea at this time. We do not presently pay for blogposts, but we do archive your post and include your name, bio, and picture.
If you get the go ahead, send us your submissions as Word document attachments. Include your name, mid to high resolution photograph, and a brief bio (less than 40 words). We will proof the document for length, grammar, content, style and tone, but please check and double-check before sending. Once submitted, a post will usually be live after two weeks.
